It depends on what kind of shooting you like to do. Target...long range...or just blasting. THe Civilian marksmanship program has some good deals on M1 Garands. Every gun owner should have one.
It's worth a look.

I'd recommend the Mosin Nagant rifles. I picked one up in excellent condition for $90, and you can buy a 440 round spam can for about $45. They're very reliable and simple to operate.
They also do a great job on 1/2 inch steel plating :) |
