Old news (for the motorcycle informed).
![]() For the record, they already campagne that bike in World Superbike. For the record, (behind Ducati) the Honda Fireblade remains the winnigest bike in World Superbike history. Honda is not off to the greatest start this season, sitting in 3rd right now behind Yamaha and Ducati, but BMW is in dead last. I'd be lying if I said I didn't love that BMW, but the truth is, it is nothing revolutionary in the motorcycle world. The bike makes silly power and stuffs the motor into a compact package. That sounds eerily similar to what the Japanese bike makers have been doing since the turn of the century. Come to think of it, last year Honda built a new Fireblade that weighs a mere 17 pounds more than the 600rr (which is the lightest 600 class bike by 12 pounds). So, that means Honda has a 180hp bike that weighs in 40 pounds less than the BMW and can gain a true 9-12hp for $60 (USDM bikes are subject to ignition timing retardation at high RPMs to meet emissions and noise requirements, a simple $59.99 DynoJet IRC is a plug and play installation that ends the timing pull and returns the bike to its full specs). While the Honda is no BMW, in the motorcycle market that is almost a good thing, as BMW bikes are not held to the same high quality as their automotive counterparts (just the same high price). In terms of build quality and fit and finish, the order for bikes is usually: Honda>BiMota>Ducati>BMW>Yamaha>Aprillia>Harley Davidson>Suzuki>Kawasaki>Hyosung>Victory>anything from Orange County Choppers I am slightly biased, but for the money, I highly doubt anyone would appreciate the Bimmer over the Ceeber. Heck, BMW even ganked the "RR" designation from Honda. What's that old saying? Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
