I built my rig a couple of years ago using a Dell XPS case and 650 watt PSU that I got for free. It has served me well and works just fine, but I am growing tired of the crappy design of the case and its blah appearence. Rather than tear it apart for my yearly cleaning, why not just tear it apart (clean parts as needed) and reinstall them in a nicer case?
As popular and cliche as it is, I am a big fan of the Antec 900 gaming case. The three 120mm fans and 200mm top fan ought to make for a cool case and keep noise semi low. I am a fan of PC Power and Cooling PSUs, and will probably upgrade to a 750 watt unit to support larger video cards in the future. Thoughts? ![]() ![]()

I like it too
But I'm a bit out of the loop as far as pc's go. Got out of the game for a couple years and already feel like I know nothing anymore. Love how fast the technology evolves haha |

I've thought about some case mods, but Dell's proprietary PSU design is a PITA to work around. The PSU is also a major limiting factor in 'going bigger' with this system. I originally had 4 HDDs, 2 video cards and had overclokced my 3.8 Pentium 4 to 4.22gHz - all of that strained the PSU and finally when I upgraded to two larger video cards (went from dual 6800GT's in SLi to dual 7900GT's in SLi) it refused to keep up. I decided to remedy the problem by selling two of the HDDs and returning the CPU to its native 3.80gHz setting.

The Antec 900 has a tendancy to collect a lot of dust. I did the filter mod too and it helps tremendously and you don't have to spray compressed air inside every couple weeks. TR Forums • View topic - Antec 900 Fan Filters |
