Default Working man's web browser guide

The working man's guide to the 5 most common browsers.

As I've had a few hours to kill and found an old desktop.

Half gig of ram, 3ghz single core XP SP3. For 2009 it's showing it's age. Still works in a pinch and sturdy though.

This is going to be something different, a tech write up by a non techy. This is about how simply things work and fast, user interface is another major factor.

Coding, ad ons, customization and all be damned. Fact is most people don't use that stuff, and many don't know how to, or care.

This is about slapping it on, goofing around and how well it works.

The 5 browsers I used were Google's Chrome, Apple's Safari, Mircosoft's Internet Explorer, Mozilla's Fire Fox and Opera's Opera.

Being a real person's review vs a tech based one, they will be short, blunt and to the point.

You don't get points for stabilty or pretty fonts if I have to spend an hour to load a page or can't find my bookmarks. With that in mind here we go from worst to best.

#5. Opera
This fucking sucks.
0/10.
Only program that just did not work out of the box. Gave it 5 minutes to dick with (that's 5 minutes more then any other one took). Fuck this program and the people who made it. If you use it, I respect you less.

#4 Internet Explorer 7.
Blech.
3.5/10
A slow, ugly, old, unfriendly program, points for reminding me when it was the only option ages back and it didn't crash. I see no point to use this program ever.

#3 Fire Fox
Overated but decent
5/10
It looks like a bastard child of Safari and IE. Behaves like one too. It's the only program that demanded I down load things for MIME and Flash, big points off it for that. Easy yes, but only one that did that? Points off.
People who use this either tweak the hell out of it, or just want to be different. This review factors both of those people out so it's not geting any points for that. Didn't give me any problems yet ran damn slow. IE was faster.

#2 Chrome
Damn nice
8/10
This lay out is slick, good looking and the fastest of all the browsers used. I really liked everything about it, I think this was my favorite browser.Google's data mining off this is what took it from the top spot. To fix this open 2 tabs one to 4chan one to shemale porn, then just surf like normal.

#1 Safari
Simple Fast Pretty
9/10
This was just real user friendly, easy to get into and figure out. Ran quite quick, simple interfast and glitch free. The worst thing about it was it set you to apple's home page but thats maybe a 2second fix. I can't say anything bad but the fast it was lacking the ease that google offers it kept it off perfect.

I'm stuck with IE on this POS computer.

Of those browsers, I've used all but Opera and can say that your list is in about the right order. I'd move Safari to 2nd and Google to 1st. On my phone, Safari runs 2nd to Mozilla, go figure?

I didnt know there were differant browsers. Everytime i buy a computer they all come with the Internet Explorer...The big blue E on my screen. All i know is that i click on the big blue E and it gets me to the internet.

I would ask how to get anouther browser, but i would probably screw my computer all up.

David, it's really a click away, it'll down load, set it self up and even put the icon on your desk top for you.

I'll even throw up the links if you so desire.
